Using live action video, illustrated animations, and ephemera from her childhood, superdog adapts a story Zhong Xian wrote at 10 years old.
Zhong Xian (b.1993) is an animation director based in Taipei and London. Her animations are drawn on paper with crayons, acrylic paint and pencil. using these materials, she creates a poetic world with a wild, naive, rough and surreal visual style. The whimsical stories appeal to both an adult and child audience.

Zhong Xian’s short “Space” was an official Vimeo Staff Pick, and has won awards at the London International Animation Festival, New Chitose Airport Animation Festival, Ottawa International Animation Festival, Festival of Animation Berlin (FAB) and T-Short Festival. Her animated short “Vampire” has received awards from the T-Short Festival and BitBang Festival (Argentina).
Zhong Xian’s films have been screened in film festivals internationally, including the Annecy International Animation Film Festival (France), 14th British Shorts Film Festival (Germany), Fantoche International Animation Film Festival (Switzerland), and many more. Her visual art has been exhibited in Taipei, Tokyo, Osaka, and Shanghai.
